Solar conditions do not remain constant. Irradiance changes throughout the day, clouds reduce available power, and partial shading can shift the operating point of the entire PV array.
A drive built for solar pumping must respond to these changes while keeping the pump operating safely and using as much available solar energy as possible.
A solar-adapted drive may be able to receive power from a PV source, but that alone does not mean it can manage changing solar conditions effectively.
Without dedicated solar control, the system may operate away from the array’s maximum power point. This can leave usable energy unavailable, reduce pumping performance, or cause unstable operation when sunlight changes.
A solar-ready drive must actively manage the relationship between the PV array, motor, and pump.

Maximum Power Point Tracking continuously adjusts the operating voltage to find the point where the solar array can deliver the most available power.
AT24 UB SolarSync provides MPPT efficiency of up to 99.8%, allowing the drive to remain close to this optimal point as weather and sunlight conditions change.
This figure refers to the accuracy and effectiveness of the tracking process. It means the drive can use the available solar energy efficiently instead of allowing part of it to remain unused.
When solar radiation falls, the system automatically adjusts pump operation to match the available power rather than forcing the motor to operate under unsuitable conditions.
Solar-ready operation requires more than MPPT.
AT24 UB SolarSync supports PV-only, AC-only, and hybrid power configurations. This allows the pumping system to operate from solar panels, the electrical grid, or a combination of both, depending on the site and available energy.
Pump-specific functions such as dry-run prevention, no-flow monitoring, and fluid-level control help protect the equipment and maintain stable operation.
The result is a drive designed around the full solar pumping application, from changing sunlight and energy management to motor control and pump protection.
That is the difference between adapting a standard drive to solar power and choosing one designed for solar pumping from the beginning.
