       Variable frequency drive with an active rectifier for electric submersible pumps. The drive series is made in compliance with Directive 2006/95/ЕС «Low Voltage Directives» and Directive 2004/108/ЕС «Electromagnetic Compatibility».

General Description


       Purpose

       The design of the Triol AK06-***-2 with active rectifier is in compliance with EC standards.

       Triol AK06-***-2 variable frequency drive (VFD) with active rectifier is intended to control and protect electric submersible pumping units (ESPU) with a nominal power from 50 to 200 kW. The Triol AK06 with active rectifier provides open-loop scalar control (V/f control) for induction (asynchronous) motors and sensorless control for brushless DC motors.

EMC filter which reduces the radio frequency harmonics generated to the network

The drive is friendly to a network, reducing voltage harmonic distortion in the network, which protects sensitive equipment connected to the same supply.

Regenerate excess power back to the grid:
When the motor is braking, excess power is fed back to the network

Provision for integration into a higher-level automated control system to allow for communicating energy consumption and submersible telemetry data to a higher-level system.

 Flying start

Decreases ESP downtime and increases oil production. Increases ESP availability.

Provisions for short-term pressure changes on the oil reservoir , “surging” and “shaking” modes

Increases oil well inflow.

Provisions for “swinging” and kick-start “swinging” to unlock  ESP in case of mechanical jam

Decreases ESP downtime. Increases availability.

“Soft Start with Synchronization” holds output frequency for a preset time upon the start prior to its further increase

Increases reliability of the ESP system.

VFD maintains process parameters  (pressure, oil level, pump vibration) and output current and motor speed within preset limits

Increases reliability and effectiveness of the ESP system.  

Motor current optimization through automatic adjustment of output voltage to frequency ratio at any given frequency

Boosts energy efficiency due to lower motor current.

VFD and pump protection functions

Increases reliability of the ESP system. Reduces maintenance costs. Longer life for the system.

“Manual”, “Automatic”, or ‘Automatic with Preset Time” restart depending on whether the motor needs to restart  automatically after a fault occurs or wait for operator’s command

Decreases ESP downtime in case of automatic restart.

VFD starts ESP after a preset time delay since power becomes available

Functionality


       The Triol AK06-***-2 offers the following functions:

  • Soft start and stop of the motor with preset acceleration and braking rate (Hz/s);
  • “Manual”, “Automatic” or “Automatic with preset time” modes determine whether the motor starts automatically after a fault occurs or awaits the operator’s command;
  • “Current optimization” mode changes the output voltage to get the minimum full load current at fixed output frequency;
  • Start and stop according to a preset time configuration;
  • Local and distant operating parameter control;
  • Change output frequency according to a preset time configuration;
  • Operating the motor in field weakening region by raising the output frequency above nominal;
  • Starting ESP after supply is delivered after a preset time;
  • Maintaining a preset technological parameter (pressure, current, vibration);
  • Starting ESP in “swinging” mode; “kick start swinging” mode can be used to unblock ESP in the case of mechanical jamming;
  • “Soft start with synchronization” holds a frequency for a preset time upon starting and then continues to start operation;
  • Starting ESP in the “unjamming” mode delivers maximum torque at low frequency;
  • Continuous monitoring of ESP isolation resistance and turning the motor off when isolation drops under a certain preset value;

       The Triol AK06-***-2 protects ESPs from the following:

  • Short circuit current;
  • Underload;
  • Overload;
  • Low “cable – ESP chassis” insulation resistance;
  • High ESP temperature (with submersible telemetry);
  • Low base oil pressure (using submersible telemetry);
  • High vibration level (using submersible telemetry); 
  • High pipeline pressure (using contact pressure gauge);
  • ESM current unbalance; and
  • Start while turbine rotation is present.
